South Ayrshire Council has announced the Bronco Demo Team will display at next month’s International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight.

The Bronco Demo Team was formed in 2010 by a group of OV-10 Bronco enthusiasts, with the aim of keeping this historic aircraft flying at air displays across the world.

The aircraft is a North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco, a turboprop light attack and observation aircraft. It was developed in the 1960s for counter insurgency combat.

The team’s flying display intends to show the excellent flying characteristics and agility of the OV-10 Bronco. During the display the short take-off and landing (STOL) performance and the manoeuvrability of the airplane will be highlighted.

The driving force behind the team is also the main pilot display pilot, Tony de Bruyn.

The aircraft's agility allows the display to be performed in a relatively small ‘box’ right in front of the crowd.

CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon said: “The Bronco Demo team have been displaying on the UK Airshow scene for over 10 years now and are very popular, so it’s superb that they will be at Ayr.
