THE rugby season is slowly drawing to a close across Ayrshire, with some clubs having now played their final matches.
There is still plenty to be decided, with Ayr RFC set for their National Premiership play-off semi-final on Saturday, April 19.
The Millbrae club would face off against Watsonian the following weekend if they can battle past Currie Chieftains.
Their opponents warmed up for that fixture by wrapping up their regular season matches in Ayrshire against Marr on Saturday, April 12.
Currie were 26-19 winners against the Troon side who had their relegation into National Division One confirmed last weekend.
Kilmarnock still have matches to play and can officially win the West Division One title - and promotion into the national leagues - on Saturday, April 19.
Though for a majority of Ayrshire clubs, the season is now over, with two completing their fixture schedule over the weekend.
Garnock ended their National Division Three season on a high as they were 36-21 winners over Hillhead Jordanhill.
The result means the Lochshore club finish the campaign in seventh place in the nine-team division, which they earned promotion to only last season.
In West Division One, Cumnock brought a testing campaign to a close in disappointing fashion as they suffered a heavy 76-7 loss away to Cambuslang.
While other clubs still have fixtures to fulfil, the East Ayrshire side will finish the season in eighth place of 10 teams.
Perhaps the biggest match of the weekend took place in West Division Two as Carrick travelled to take on Strathendrick.
A win for the Maybole side would have ended their opponents' perfect run so far this season and kept their faint title hopes alive.
However, Strathendrick ran out 34-17 winners, a result which secured the Division Two title and promotion into Division One.
Carrick still have one league match remaining and could still end the season in second with a victory on Saturday, April 19.
