ONE of Ayrshire's biggest rugby sides has been relegated from Scotland's top club league.
Marr RFC had their fate sealed on Saturday, April 5, despite securing victory in the penultimate National Premiership match.
The Troon side were 24-19 winners over Hawick but results elsewhere mean that a bottom three finish is unavoidable - with a drop into National Division One now imminent.
The Fullarton outfit will now finish their season at home Currie Chieftains this coming Saturday, April 12.
Their opponents on that day will face a trip to play regular season table toppers Ayr the following week in the Premiership play-off semi-final.
The winners of that tie will take on Watsonian, after they defeated Heriot's in the other semi on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Ardrossan Accies finished off their National Division Four season in style as they played already relegated Greenock Wanderers at the weekend.
The Memorial Field side were 33-19 winners and will finish the season in second place.
The match was also a final game in charge for head coach Andrew Duncan, who is set to depart from the role after two years at the helm.
Into the regional leagues and Cumnock RFC fell to defeat in their penultimate match of the season.
Lenzie were 60-24 winners in East Ayrshire at the weekend - with the result keeping their very slim hopes of pipping Kilmarnock, who were out of action, to the title alive for now.
In West Division Two, Irvine RFC brought their campaign to a close on Saturday, losing 36-15 to Birkmyre.
After promotion last season, it has been a solid year for the North Ayrshire outfit who are set to finish comfortably in mid-table.
Carrick RFC kept their slim hopes of a league title alive on Saturday as they were 50-10 winners against Waysiders/Drumpellier.
They need unbeaten Strathendrick to slip up in their final three matches to have a shot at glory - and have the chance to inflict the leader's first defeat on Saturday, April 12, when the pair meet.
In women's rugby, the season was officially brought to a close in Ayrshire over the weekend.
