ST JOHNSTONE are said to be looking at Ayr United's Scott Brown as a replacement for the sacked Craig Levein.
The Ayr United boss is in the frame for the Perth job, alongside candidates including Aberdeen coach Peter Leven and Larne boss Tiernan Lynch.
It is understood that the McDiarmid Park side have requested permission to speak with Brown over the vacancy, but that no talks have taken place yet.
Brown came in to Somerset Park in January, and has overseen a huge turnover of players, transforming the side into title contenders.
The Honest Men are still unbeaten in the league this season, keeping pace with other challengers including Falkirk.
St Johnstone currently sit third-bottom of the Premiership, with head coach Andy Kirk taking charge of last weekend's draw with Ross County.
