Whitletts Victoria FC is marking a special milestone this week - eight decades of football in the town.
The club was first set up back in 1944, with its first competitive match a 2-2 draw against Ayr Newton Rovers at the Recreation Ground.
Whitletts, which now boasts academy sides, a thriving amateur team, a ladies team and a walking football team to name but a few, is now a major community operation.
A club spokesperson said: "This week the club celebrates 80 years of football, from our beginnings as a Junior team, until now.
"With the help of the Vics in the Community Charity, we can now boast a full academy setup, from our 2018s team right through to our u20s development squad.
"Throw into that our amateur team, ladies teams, walking football and over 35’s, we’ve come a very long way!"
