WHITLETTS Victoria have confirmed that two star performers have left the club.

They confirmed on Friday, June 9 that a club stalwart and their young player of the year will be leaving Dam Park.

Sean Ewart and Ross George will be joining Kevin Deeney's side following the expiration of their contracts in Ayr.

Ewart has been with Whitletts for nine seasons, first joining as a 17-year-old in 2014, making over 200 appearances and scoring 19 goals.

Having started as a midfielder, Sean was converted to a left back where he has excelled, making the position his own.

George rejoined Whitletts three years ago after a brief spell with Largs Thistle - and has enjoyed his best season in red and black this past year.

At the club's end of season awards, George was awarded the Sam Galloway Trophy for most man of the match Awards and also the young player of the year award.

It is two disappointing losses for Whitletts, however manager Gordon Pope said he understands that the pair wished to test themselves a a higher level.

Irvine Meadow are currently a league above Whitletts, in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division - with Pope's side in the First Division.

The Vics manager told the club's website: "Both players have had outstanding seasons and have been integral players in our great run of form during the second half of the season.

"Although I had hoped both players would stay at the club and form the foundation that we are looking to build on going forward, I fully appreciate the opportunity that has been afforded to them and their desire to play in the Premier Division."
