Whitletts Victoria manager Gordon Pope praised his side’s clinical finishing as they demolished Lugar Boswell Thistle 8-2 at the weekend.

Going into the West of Scotland Football League Conference A match Pope was still looking for his first win in charge after draws against Maybole and Forth Wanderers.

His side went about their work in emphatic fashion with goals from Louis Kerr, Isaac Kerr and doubles from Jordan Boyd, Scott Dempster and Jordan Baird giving them a huge win at Rosebank Park.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Pope said: “It was a great performance and good to get the goals.

“The big thing to me was to see the clinical finishing at the weekend.

“My front three has came off the pitch with two goals each which is great for confidence going into the last two games.

“We have done brilliant to get into this position to almost get promoted into the First Division.

“So, you don’t want it to go to waste in these last few games.

“The players know what is at stake and they showed that they wanted it against Lugar.”
