Ayr Storm Basketball Club Senior Women’s team picked up a tight victory against Glasgow Fever at the weekend.

The Storm travelled up the M77 in fine form ahead of their Strathclyde League contest.

They continued their good run of results with another victory beating Glasgow Fever 58-53.

Their youth shone in the win, with U16 National Academy players, Lauren Cooper and Brooke Beveridge leading the team’s scoring.

The duo were also in action for the Ayr Storm Junior Women’s side at the weekend as well in a must win game.

Having lost to the Lady Rocks in the first game of the SBC Play-off semi-final, Ayr had to win the second leg if they wanted to progress to the final against Edinburgh Kats.

Both teams found it hard offensively in the first half, with the defences keeping the scoring down.

So, much so that the away side just edged it at the break with a 20-18 lead at Belmont Academy.

The third quarter carried in a similar vein, with Ayr captain, Niamh Keenan tying her best to bring energy to her team.

However, Rocks first three pointer of the day from Lucy Rafferty, saw the away side finish the period 41-32 on top.

The home side continued to battle in the fourth period but in the end the Rocks proved too much as they ran out 70-54 winners and advanced to the play-off finals.

Ayr will now face Perth Phoenix in the 3rd/4th place match-up.
