Ayr Indoor and Howie Visually Impaired Bowling Club (AIHVIC) recently competed in the Visually Impaired Fours tournament in Glasgow.

This event is a main component of the Visually Impaired Bowlers Scotland (VIBS) competitive programme which encompasses both the indoor and outdoor disciplines of lawn bowls.

This year nine teams competed at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club near Hampden Park, with Renfrew emerging as winners for the second year running.

Ayr Howie, represented by Chris Skinner, Paul Sharp, Bennett Ward and John McKay won one of their three games, only losing to the tournament’s eventual runners up and third placed teams.

The bowlers, who all live with visual impairment, play at Prestwick Howie during the Summer and since 2021 at Ayr Indoor Bowling Club in the winter months.

If any readers are registered blind or registered partially sighted and would like to find out more about bowling then you can contact Prestwick Howie’s club secretary Ian Robertson via email on: ianrobertson23@gmail.com.
