Troon assistant manager Dean Keenan lauded Sam Jamieson as the ‘best striker in the league’ after the Seasiders’ picked up a 2-1 win over Cumnock.

The ex-Rangers forward opened the scoring for the hosts early on in the first half at Portland Park before the Nock equalised through Andy McLaughlin.

In the second half, the Seasiders grabbed a late winner through Tommy Maitland to seal their fourth league win in a row.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Keenan said: “Maitland has been brilliant in both boxes for us in recent weeks.

“He has had a fantastic season defensively but since the turn of the year he has has proved a real goal threat for us as well.

“Jamieson for me is the best striker in the league.

“I think he is phenomenal and is someone I rate at the top of the list for players I have worked with at Troon.

“I have got no doubt that his career will go to a much higher level than he is playing at the moment.

“So, we just have to enjoy him while he is here.

“Hopefully, we can get him tied up in a day or two for next season which is massive because he is an integral part if we want to kick on and challenge for honours.”
