Legendary Troon bowler Paul Foster MBE has been included in the Scotland squad for next year’s rescheduled World Bowls Championship.
The tournament which was due to take place in May this year has been postponed until September 2021 on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Foster – a four-time gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games including on the Gold Coast in 2018 - was named in the unchanged national squad alongside Ronnie Duncan, Derek Oliver, Darren Burnett and Alex Marshall MBE.
The women’s team will consist of Stacey McDougall, Kay Moran, Lauren Baillie-Whyte, Dee Hoggan and Claire Anderson.
Bowls Scotland High Performance Coach, David Gourlay MBE who is from Annbank, said: “I’m delighted that the selection panel has shown faith in the players initially selected for the World Championships. I would also like to thank all the players for once again making themselves available for selection.
“Again, the championships will be held on Southern Hemisphere greens which always creates challenges for Northern Hemisphere countries. However, we can’t wait to get our preparations underway and I have total confidence that the squad selected has the ability to challenge for medals.”
