McGregor 6: Made a few saves to keep out the likes of Havertz and Diaby. Could do nothing with the goal.

Tavernier 6: Captain's final ball was a tad off but he was kept on the back-foot most of the evening.

Goldson 7: Rangers' best player. Won most of his aerial battles including one at the other end when his header was cleared off the line.

Helander 6: First game back for a while and didn't look out of place or out of sorts. Blocked a decent Florian Wirtz effort in the first-half to keep it goalless at the time.

Barisic 6: Steady if unremarkable at left-back. Didn't get forward often enough to be his usual self.

Barker 6: Had the thankless task of trying to catch Leverkusen on the counter-attack. Did nothing wrong but, at the same time, didn't put in enough going forward and was hooked.

Aribo 6: Made a few runs from midfield but was well shackled by Aranguiz. Guilty of doing a bit too much before releasing the pass but a tough night for him.

Davis 6: Couldn't have his usual impact on the game with Leverkusen's array of talents buzzing around him. Didn't find himself on the ball often enough to make anything happen.

Jack 6: Strong in the tackle as usual but wasn't allowed any time to think on the ball, which worked against him and Gers.

Kent 5: Full of running but could see him getting visibly frustrated at the lack of service. Brought off in the second-half.

Morelos 5: Another who found it difficult up against the impressive Tapsoba. Appeared a yard off the pace from kick-off but put himself about as he usually does.

Subs

Arfield 4: Played some good passes forward and won some tackles.

Hagi 5: Looked energetic and did well when he came on.

Patterson 4: Won a good last-man header towards the end.

Jones 5: Another who impressed during the short time he had on the pitch. Never afraid to run at opponents.

Stewart 3: Missed a decent opportunity.
