FORMER Ayr United Academy product Craig McGuffie has quickly found a new club after penning an 18-month contract at Morton, writes Christopher Dodds.

The 22-year-old mutually agreed to terminate his contract at Somerset Park yesterday after becoming frustrated at a lack of first team action which led to Ton boss David Hopkin acting fast to make a swoop for the midfielder last night.

The news come after it was revealed that talisman Allan Forrest looks set to join Premiership side Livingston after agreeing a pre contract with the West Lothian side.

McGuffie had made 15 appearances for the Honest Men this season, scoring three times, two of which were against his new employers.

Upon his release yesterday, Ayr gaffer Mark Kerr said:

“Craig has had frustrations that have built up over a period of time under the previous management as he didn’t get anywhere near the game time that he was looking for.

“There is no doubting his ability but he needs to get some game time and that is why he is looking to move on.”
