CUMNOCK and Auchinleck celebrated major medal glory at the Bowls Scotland National Championships at Northfield Bowling Club last week.

Bronze medal success was clinched in the Gents Triples by Cumnock’s David Jagadowski, Callum Hunter and James Gibson, who lost in the semi-final .

In the Ladies Over 55 Fours the Cumnock team of Jean Sykes, Margaret Bingham, Linda Bryce and Heather Kay won the gold medal with victories over Wishaw South, Alloa West End, Chirnside, Oban and Denny in the Final

Auchinleck’s Claire Johnston and Hannah Smith won gold medals in the Ladies Pairs.

In the Ladies Fours, the Craigie team comprising Louise Noon Jan Docherty, Liz Nelson and Anne Brown won Bronze medal after losing narrowly to eventual winners Alloa West End.

Gents Singles: Cumnock’s William McKenzie lost in the quarter- final to overall winner Gordon White.

Gents Pairs – Craigie – John Henderson and Chris Duffy lost in the quarter- final to overall winners Stewart Anderson and Steven Shields. Saturday saw Scotland host the BIWBC Under 25 International Series at the National Bowling Centre.

Local girls Dawn Anderson, Louise Boon, Rebecca Houston and Rachael Houston helped Scotland become British Isles champions for the first time in 10 years as they defeated Ireland by 39 shots, England by one shot and Wales by 18 shots.
