RELIEVED GIRVAN FC manager Ian Patterson praised his depleted team after racking up just the second victory during his tenure.
The Seasiders defeated Aberdeenshire Premier League team Culter 2-0 in a Macron Scottish Junior Cup Second Round tie at Hamilton Park.
Patterson was impressed with the display and said: “Overall it was a good team performance considering we had seven players out through injuries and holiday. Others slotted into the team and played well. It’s just the second win since I came here and hopefully we can build on it in the games coming up."
Asked what he was looking for in next Tuesday’s draw, Patterson said: "Hopefully a home tie or one not too far away.”
Next up for Girvan is a home Championship clash with Patterson’s former team Craigmark Burntonians, whom he steered to promotion last season, on Saturday. It will be the first time he has faced them since leaving last summer and his connections add spice to the fixture.
Patterson added: “They will be clear favourites to win since they have some good results and are doing well. It will be tough. But we will be looking to win as our priority is to make sure we stay up.”
