IT was a busy weekend of racing for Fullarton Wheelers with the club hosting the Spring 10 Time Trial.

On a chilly but dry morning the club was delighted that a great turnout of 98 riders took on the test of the familiar route from Eglinton Park along the A78 to the Dundonald Camp Roundabout and back.

The event was won by Douglas Watson of Icarus Racing in a time of 20min 33secs, second was Dylan Hughes of Spokes Racing Team in 20:46, and third Kenneth Armstrong in 2:01. First woman rider home was Pamela Craig of RCCK in 24:00.

Second and third were Fullarton Wheelers’ own Catherine Logan in 24:31 and Natalie Hunter in 25:28.

The club’s Youth Section also had a full weekend of racing. On Saturday, Conal Davidson and Isla Muirhead, wore their club colours in the multi-event Youth Omnium at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, both putting in great efforts and developing their track racing experience.

On Sunday four youth riders took part in the Kames Crit racing in Muirkirk.

Ben Raleigh, the club’s youngest racer, was in the Under-8’s Boys race, Karsyn Baird in the Under-12’s Boys race and Martha Hillard and Zoe Watters in the Girls Under-16 race.

The event was capped off nicely for Fullarton Wheelers as Zoe dominated here field to win her race by a lap.

A great weekend’s racing showing the depth of female talent in the club with three of them reaching the podium.
