AMBITIOUS Troon Juniors FC are looking to mould stars of the future by launching a new youth academy team.

And the first age group to be established is the 2004s.

Strips, tracksuits and season tickets to Portland Park will be provided for all players and football matches will be played at the home of the Junior football team while the clubhouse can be used for fundraising.

Coach Brian Prentice said: "We are planting seeds to try and grow a youth academy. Our objective is a pathway for players to have the opportunity to to go and play for Troon Juniors. Things are at a very early stage but we had a good meeting with the Junior football team. Our team will wear the colours of Troon FC as well as playing at their ground. It should be beneficial to them if players are able to feed through to the first team.

"We should be up and running for the 2017-18 season so should start playing games in August."

As well as recruiting players, organisers are looking to build the coaching team and volunteers.

The Swan Restaurant in the town have agreed to sponsor the strips.

Barassie's Day to Day store also donated £100 to buy football's and bibs which is fantastic just thought I should say thanks for all you do mate.

The team are looking to hear from interested player keen to get involved in a team which will offer progression along with a high level of training and fitness. A training session will be held this coming Wednesday, March 15, at 6.30pm at Portland Park.
