HUNDREDS of people descended on Troon War Memorial for the annual Service of Remembrance on Sunday with an Ecumenical Service following later in Troon Old Parish Church.
There was a parade in the town featuring ex-servicemen, the Army Cadet Corps, the 28th Ayrshire Scouts, Girl Guides, Girls Brigade, the British Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
Father Archie Brown of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Meddan led the service and said prayers for people who had died in conflicts since 1918 or had been affected by them.
James Kenneth, the British Legion representative also took part in the service which featured a rendition of Abide With Me.
Wreaths were laid at the war memorial by organisations including South Ayrshire Council, the Army Cadet Corps, the Masonic Lodge, Troon Community Council, the Girls Brigade, Boys Brigade, Scouts, British Red Cross, St Andrew's Ambulance Association, Troon Fishermen's Mission, Troon Senior Citizens and Elderly Forum and Troon Rotary Club.
