A DOON Valley councillor has shared the latest update of work ongoing to transform a historic church in Dalmellington.
Plans were approved earlier this year to secure the future of the historic Kirk of the Covenant by transforming it into a community observatory and museum.
The Category B listed church on Knowehead was built in 1846 and located within the Dalmellington Conservation Area .
Work has been moving at pace inside the old church, with plans to dismantle the old balcony.
Once transformed, the building will also provide space for an events area, tearoom and small florist hut.
Externally, works will include the installation of an observatory dome on the existing clock tower, positioned behind the parapets to reduce visual impact.
Internally, proposals include extending the existing gallery by 2.4 metres using structural steelwork, installing a lift to improve accessibility, partially altering internal stairs, refurbishing plasterwork, relocating the pulpit and redecorating the interior in darker colours.
Doon Valley councillor, Drew Filson, has been well on top of the work, chipping in where he can.
He has been sharing progress of the work as it moves along.
The latest weekend update included work to remove old ceiling plaster before the balcony work is carried forward.
