AN AYR anxiety specialist has published a new book aimed to help people understand the mental health condition.

Alan Currie is drawing on years of experience working with people across South Ayrshire who live with anxiety, overthinking and emotional pressure.

His new book, The Rucksack You Carry, hopes to introduce a simple concept that many people are quietly carrying far more than they realise.

Rather than viewing anxiety as a weakness, Currie explains it as a natural response from a nervous system that has learned to stay on guard.

By breaking this down in a clear, relatable way, the book helps readers make sense of what’s happening inside both their mind and body.

Alan said: “When people understand what’s going on, something shifts..

“The fear around anxiety begins to ease, and they start to feel a bit lighter without anything external changing.”

The author began his career as a psychiatric nurse and mental health nurse in the care sector.

Over the years, he explored various fields and career options, which include fitness, martial arts, owning a gym, and becoming certified in multiple therapies.

However, the Ayr man truly found his passion in hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) therapy and language patterns.

He now blends all his skill sets and experiences to provide unwavering commitment in helping clients resolve any issue they face.

Written for everyday people navigating real-life stress, The Rucksack You Carry focuses on awareness, understanding and the changes that can happen when the body begins to feel safe again.

The book is available as an eBook (£2.99) and paperback (£9.99), with signed copies available directly from the author.
