AN AYRSHIRE soapmaker is hosting a feel-good giveaway for those who inspire children to read.
Soap Poetry is inviting the public to nominate teachers, volunteers, bookshop staff, and charity workers who help children discover the joy of reading.
The initiative is inspired by the national #GetBritainReading campaign and the #ChildrensBookProject.
Recent research from the National Literacy Trust shows that just one in three children and young people aged 8–18 enjoy reading in their free time — the lowest level in 20 years.
“Early access to books has such a positive impact on children’s development and outcomes,” says founder Frances Burridge.
Her husband John added: “Those who help children develop the skills and confidence to read for pleasure are everyday heroes. This giveaway is our way of thanking them.”
Three winners will each receive a duo of handmade, book-inspired soaps, made with beautiful organic ingredients, along with a handwritten thank-you note.
Nominations are open now via Instagram at @soappoetryshop. Entries opened on November 8 and close on November 18, with winners announced shortly after.
