A TALENTED young singer is set to represent the UK in an international music competition later this month.
Emily Phee, from Monkton, has made it through to the finals of the Tour Music Festival - also known as the European Music Contest.
The nine-year-old impressed amongst thousands of up and coming musicians, singers and song writers to make it to the finals in San Marino.
Mum Katie explained: "She's been singing since she was literally in nappies, always joining in with songs on the X Factor.
"In the last five years she has been doing some shows and started busking up in Glasgow to get some funds for the competitions she wants to enter.
"She does music lessons once a week with a vocal coach, sings non-stop, and has also been working with Prestwick singer Scott Nicol.
"She's still trying to expand her repertoire but she loves a mixture of everything including country and pop."
The young singing sensation is now set to represent the UK for her age group in the tiny country of San Marino later this month.
Katie said: "She had to do an online audition first and then the best 100 went down to London for live auditions.
"We were there in October and she got a photoshoot, a quick interview and some training before her live audition.
"She was overwhelmed when she found out she got through to San Marino, as the only singer in her 6-10 category representing the UK."
While at the finals, the Monkton Primary pupil will be given the opportunity to participate in educational masterclasses, interviews, and artistic meetings.
Katie added: "The live final is on November 27 at the Auditorium Little Tony, and one of the judges is on American Idol.
"Each night there is a different final for bands, rappers DJs and more types of music, and Emily will be able to meet some of these artists.
"It's a high profile music competition with acts from 14 countries so it will be a great experience.
"The whole family is heading out to support her and her school has been fantastic in supporting her dreams."
