SOUTH Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership's (SAHSCP) Ageing Well programme has won a national award.
The project was recognised for its "proactive approach" to the challenges of South Ayrshire's ageing population at the 2025 Association of Public Sector Excellence (APSE) Awards on September 11.
It won the Best Efficiency and Transformation Initiative category.
SAHSCP said the programme stood out for the difference it makes to older people's ability to "live well, stay connected and remain active."
Tim Eltringham, director of SAHSCP, said: "We are incredibly proud to have our Ageing Well work recognised at a national level.
"This achievement reflects the dedication of our staff, the strength of our partnerships and above all, the ongoing support and involvement of our communities within South Ayrshire."
The strategy, developed by SAHSCP and Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA), began when South Ayrshire became one of Scotland's first Age-Friendly Communities, a movement led by the World Health Organisation.
Marie Oliver, CEO of VASA, said: "What began as a response to the challenges of an ageing population has grown into something much broader, with prevention and timely support at its heart, helping people thrive in later life.
"One of the biggest steps we have made in our Ageing Well journey has been the introduction of our Ageing Well Champions Boards.
"These boards are an opportunity for local people to really have their say in shaping our communities going forward."
APSE is a not-for-profit organisation that celebrates excellence in frontline community services across the UK.
The awards honour the dedication of local councils, including their special projects that make a real difference to communities.
The success of SAHSCP's Ageing Well programme is described as a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative community efforts.
