A FABULOUS night was had by Ayr Writers’ Club members at their recent annual awards dinner.
The event marked the end of the 2024/25 season and current presidents, Carrie Watts and Linda Brown, handed over the gavel to incoming president, Fiona Johnson.
Following a meal at the Carlton Hotel in Prestwick, awards were dished out.
This year's winners of the fiercely fought competitions were: Flash Fiction – Chris Palmer, Children’s Fiction - Greta Yorke, Scottish Article - Linda Brown, Non-Fiction Article - Gill Hyslop, Drama - Susan McVey, Novel - Stephen Cashmore, Book Review - Matthew Richardson, Poetry - Kirsty Hammond, Women’s Magazine Short Story, Matthew Richardson, General Short Story - Linda Brown, Ayrshire Drabble - Maggie Morton and Published Writer of the Year - Damaris West.

Carrie and Linda thanked members for all of their writing efforts this year, while new president Fiona invited everyone to the summer Readaround events.
The club meets on Wednesday evenings and starts back on September 3 at the Mercure Hotel in Ayr.
