THE opening date for the new library in Troon has been revealed by the council.
The doors to the new library, located in the town's to the town’s Municipal Buildings will officially open to the public at 9am on Wednesday, June 4, but it will leave the town without a library for nearly two weeks.
The Municipal Buildings at South Beach were built around 1930, and are category B listed.
However, to facilitate the move, the current library, which will be converted into a nursery, will close at 5pm on Friday, May 23 with any activities and events usually held over this period being postponed.
Plans to move the Troon Early Years Centre into the town's library were given the green light by councillors in 2023, despite pleas for a delay in making a final decision.
The authority's Labour group wanted to delay a decision, arguing that the best place for the EYC would be at Troon Primary School.
The new library will continue to offer a vibrant programme of events, including author talks, reading groups, craft sessions, and engaging activities for children and families -making it a welcoming hub for learning, creativity, and connection.
It will offer a range of services to customers, including access to a wide variety of digital and printed books, free public access PCs and free public Wi-Fi.
