AN Ayrshire author's love letter to his hometown will be celebrated at a top book festival.
Billy Kay, a 'renowned' author and broadcaster, will discuss his experiences of growing up in Ayrshire at the Paisley Book Festival.
His new book, 'Born in Kyle: A Love Letter Tae an Ayrshire Childhood', is set against the backdrop of his early life and influences from the Irvine Valley.
The book full of love and humour sees the award-winning storyteller return to his cultural and linguistic roots.
Billy said: "Having made radio documentaries on the rich history of Paisley, I’m delighted to be given the chance to share my book about an Ayrshire childhood with so many Paisley Buddies.
"Renfrewshire and Ayrshire speak the same dialect of Scots, so my stories will resonate with the people there and help revive and enrich their ain dear mither tongue.
"But, even if ye dinnae hae a guid Scots tongue in yer heid, I promise that my sense of humour will get through to you."
He will be in conversation with New Cumnock poet and former coal miner Rab Wilson, and Scottish author James Robertson.

The session, chaired by Professor Jim Phillips, will take place between 11.45am and 1pm in Paisley Town Hall on Sunday, April 27.
It will reflect the festival’s theme of "The Lives We Live," which explores the competing ideas about life in today’s complicated world.
