A much-loved Ayr eatery is enjoying the taste of success after being named the Best Indian Restaurant in the region.
Ayr India Seafront was given the honour for the West of Scotland at the prestigious Spice Awards 2024.
The restaurant is a family-run business headed by Narinder and Balbir Sangha, alongside son Gagandeep.
The family's food empire also includes their other Ayr India restaurant on Alloway Place and The Rupee Room.
Narinder opened the seafront restaurant in 1992, with the Alloway Place premises following in 2010. The family have also owned The Rupee Room for 25 years.
Gagandeep says the family are thrilled at the prestigious award, with "blood sweat and tears" put into the business seven days a week.
He said: "It is a massive honour for us and a great achievement, but it takes a lot of hard work and this is our reward.
"It is always a challenge in this industry, and we are here every day working with staff and striving for perfection.
"We have built a good customer base over the years and they now come expecting only the best.
"It's like a big party at home, we want to make sure family and their guests are enjoying themselves."
Gagandeep says the business has enjoyed a successful summer, and reveals plans are still in the works to expand into another Ayrshire seaside town.
He added: "It's been a busy summer and events like The Open and the International Ayr Show have given us a big boost.
"It's tough for a lot of businesses but the secret for us is that we're there every day and I think customers recognise that.
"We're still actively looking for a premises in Largs, but the right opportunity just hasn't come along yet.
"My dad managed his cousin’s restaurant in Gallowgate Street in the early 1990s, and he has always wanted to open up there himself.
"We are always on the lookout for a space so if anyone knows anything, email us at enquiries@ayrindia.com."
