A SIX-WEEK programme of works to upgrade the heating system at Troon Leisure Club is set to begin at the end of this month.
The facility will be open as normal throughout the upgrade, which is scheduled to start on Monday, September 30.
The project will see the old gas boilers removed and replaced with three new energy efficient boilers.
The new heating system will feature remote access and a sophisticated fault alert system.
Councillor Martin Kilbride, buildings, housing and environment portfolio holder, said: “We estimate that the new system will reduce gas consumption by around 20 per cent, which is fantastic for our green credentials.
"The work means we are also future proofing the facility and reducing maintenance costs.”
Councillor Brian Connolly, sport and leisure portfolio holder, added: “It’s important that the facility remained open for the duration of the works, so I am delighted there will be little impact on users.
"We continue to invest in our leisure facilities to ensure they are energy efficient and cater for the needs of customers.”
