A MAN allegedly tried to push his partner out of a third floor window in Ayr before reportedly trying to stab her in the eye with a fork.
John Andrew Hoggans pleaded not guilty to assaulting the woman at an address in Mill Wynd on May 15 last year.
The 47-year-old is alleged to have seized her on the body and attempted to push her through the open window of a third floor flat.
The charge alleges that he then struggled with her and attempted to stab her in the eye with a fork to her injury.
He is charged with breaching a bail condition to not approach or contact the woman by being in her company in Fenwickland Avenue in the town on July 29, 2023.
Court papers state the charges are aggravated by involving the alleged abuse of a partner or ex partner.
Mr Hoggans, whose address was listed as HMP Kilmarnock on the Crown's indictment, appeared via video link from custody at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Defence solicitor Quentin Muir said his client was pleading not guilty to charge one but guilty as libelled to charge two, but said that "would not resolve the matter".
A trial was set for later in the year and Mr Hoggans will appear to face the allegations at a later date.
All accused persons reported in the Ayr Advertiser are considered innocent unless later found or admit to being guilty.
