Two members of staff have been made redundant after Ayr's Mercure Hotel closed its leisure club to the public.
The facility closed its doors to the public on August 30, and now only hotel guests will be able to use the leisure club.
Hotel management said that rising costs meant that the club was no longer a "viable business".
A hotel spokesperson said: “We can confirm the hotel’s leisure club closed to the public on Friday, August 30 remaining open as a gym for hotel residents only.
“This was not an easy decision to make but one that, despite everyone’s best efforts, had become necessary due to rising costs and the club no longer being a viable business.
"Unfortunately, this has also meant two valued staff members have been made redundant.
“There are no contracted members of the club, currently the club has seven people on ‘pay as you go’ weekly or monthly arrangements."
