It was a triple win for Ayr's hospitality scene at the 2024 Scottish Bar and Pub awards.

Popular spots Tempura and The Stravaig picked up awards at the glittering ceremony whilst hospitality boss Steven Muir of Beatbox Leisure also went home with a gong.

Tempura, which has its flagship restaurant in the town, was awarded the Casual Dining Award.

Owners Mark Blake and Brandon Van Reesburg said: “A fantastic night last night where we picked up the casual dining of the year award.

"Thank you to everyone who voted for us and thank you to our incredible team of staff. A great feeling when our efforts are rewarded with something like this.”

The Stravaig, which opened inside the Kylestrome Hotel just six months ago, was given the New Bar of the Year Award.

A spokesperson said: “We have just won best new bar of the year award in Scotland - six months old, wow.

"We can only thank our amazing customers for this incredible achievement and the amazing support you have shown us. New and great things to come.

“We could not have achieved this without our incredible staff, they are just amazing. Thanks again, team Stravaig.”

Steven Muir, boss at Beatbox Leisure, who run a string of venues in the town including Harley’s, Notion, the Printhouse and Mulligans, was named as Boss of the Year with a special award.

He said: "I really have to thank the whole team that I have. They really are the best. Amazing gesture to put my name in the hat for this award!"
