Ayr Cricket Club has slammed vandals who threw bricks through its changing room window and a car in a weekend attack.

The Western Premiership One side’s Cambusdoon base was hit by the vandals over the weekend, prompting an online appeal.

One brick was thrown through a changing room window, with another thrown through the windshield of a members' car in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A club spokesperson said: "At 2.26am on Sunday morning this brick sadly lost its way and found itself inside our new changing room.

"It’s pals also found their way through a members car windshield and we are keen to rehome them with their owners.

"We have very good CCTV and have involved the police, so are confident we will eventually find a safe home for Rick (the brick) but would love any information from members or local residents so the process can be expedited.

"If anyone has any information as to who the two teenage lads are that may have inadvertently lost their pal Rick it would help us rehome him, please contact us in confidence.

"The club has recently spent £300k trying to enhance the community benefit it brings and two wee bampots think we are short of a brick!

"If we don’t hear from you, you WILL hear from us. Great weekend for all sections at the club. Shame some folk want to spoil it."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.40am on Sunday, 11 August, 2024, officers received a report of damage at a premises on Burns Wicket, Ayr.

“Enquiries are at an early stage.”
