A popular Ayr diner has received its latest award after being honoured for having the 'Finest Burgers in Scotland'.

Nanny Mary's received an E2 Media excellence award for their burgers - the sixth award for the eatery since it opened two years ago.

The popular Smith Street venue also claimed the 'best food business' award at the Scottish Prestige Awards, which aims to recognise thriving small-to-medium sized businesses.

It was the third consecutive year they claimed a title at the awards, which means the team are proud holders of a stunning platinum trophy to mark their hat-trick of successes.

Allana Harte runs the business alongside her mum Alana, dad Michael and uncle Noel. The diner was named after their beloved nan Mary who they sadly lost in 2017.

A spokesperson said: "It’s been such an ever-changing journey and honestly it hasn’t always been the easiest and there has been days we have struggled, days we have made mistakes, days we find it difficult.

"However there are days we soar higher than the clouds in the sky and we work our way through each day, remembering such a beautiful soul who gave us so much in every aspect and push and strive to be better whenever and wherever we can

"A wonderful woman who supported all her friends and family through life, who taught us so much, who was a true and kind genuine soul that left us with a forever hole in our hearts and lives."
