Ashley Massingham, aged 35 and of Daniels Drive in Ruabon, was sentenced for two offences of drug driving (cannabis and the cocaine breakdown product benzoylecgonine), as well as driving without insurance and possession of cocaine. All of the motoring offences took place on February 26 this year at Edward Street in Wrexham and related to the defendant's use of a Honda motor vehicle. The court handed down a 12 month community order with up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity, a £120 fine and a three year driving ban. Massingham must also pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

Richard Hughes, aged 37 and of St Johns Court in Hightown, was sentenced for two offences of theft from shop. The first took place on November 30 last year when he took £40 worth of fragrance sets from Next at Island Green in Wrexham. The second related to him taking £45.05 worth of meat from Co-op in Borras Park Road, Wrexham. The court handed down a 12 month community order with up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity. The defendant must pay compensation to the value of the stolen goods.

Ashley Busch, aged 37 and presently of HMP Berwyn, was sentenced for two offences. The first was that he, as a detainee or a person charged, failed or refused to provide a sample for a class A drug test at Llay Custody facility on April 30. The second involved his theft of £79 worth of Lego from Tesco in Wrexham, which took place on April 29. He received a total prison sentence of eight weeks - as the court decided that given his previous convictions, the offences were "so serious, only a custodial sentence" could be justified.

The Leader: Ashley Busch (NWP)Ashley Busch (NWP) (Image: North Wales Police)Stephen Roberts, aged 40 and of Plas Gwyn in Wrexham, was sentenced for three Wrexham-based offences. The first was theft from shop, in which Roberts took a mountain bike on September 16, 2023, from a location in Charles Street. The second involved him stealing two dog harnesses worth £100 from Jollyes Pet Store at Border Retail Park in Holt Road on March 1 this year. And the third involved him stealing planks of wood belonging to Ty Nos on April 3, 2024. The court handed down a 12 month community order with up to 25 rehabilitation activity days. Roberts must pay £400 compensation for the bike and £99.98 compensation for the harnesses. He was also fined £40. No costs were ordered as the court felt compensation should take priority.

Jade Kelly, aged 29 and of Bell Court in Wrexham, was sentenced for one offence of assault, committed against Sophie Edwards on December 18. She received a 12 month community order with up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity. The court also ordered Kelly to pay £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

Katie Whittle, aged 38 and of Wellington Street in Shotton, was sentenced for driving a Renault motor vehicle in Wellington Road without due care and attention, which took place on December 26, 2023. She was also sentenced for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, committed on the same date. The court fined Whittle £123 and handed her three penalty points. She must pay £110 costs and a £49 victim surcharge.

Sean Walton, aged 67 and of Hawkwell Rise in Throckley, Newcastle Upon Tyne, was sentenced for exceeding a 30mph speed limit on the A548 at Greenfield, which happened on June 30 last year. The court fined him £166 and handed down three penalty points but opted not to disqualify on him as it was said that he would lose his job, which would have an effect on his mental health and result in him being unable to live on his pension.  However the court did order him to pay £110 costs and a £66 victim surcharge.
