DEMOLITION work is set to start soon at a former primary school building in Maybole.
The former Gardenrose Primary building has been lying empty following the opening of the £60m Maybole Campus development.
Pupils from Gardenrose, Cairn Primary and St Cuthbert's Primary all moved into the new campus last year.
The Gardenrose Primary site was considered by the local authority to be too large for council housing.
Discussions with local organisations and other community partners also failed to secure any firm interest in the building.
South Ayrshire Council planning officers have now given the green light for the building to be razed to the ground after a 'prior notification of demolition' was lodged earlier this month.
