The Met Office has urged Ayrshire residents to be aware of potential disruption later this week as they issue a yellow weather warning.

People are being urged to be aware of heavy rain expected to come to the area on Wednesday, April 10 from 9am to 6pm.

Residents should be aware that bus and train services could be affected, some properties could face flooding, and journey times could be extended due to spray and flooding on the roads.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Rain will spread east across the warning area on Wednesday, and be heavy at times over high ground.

"Accumulations of 15 to 25mm are expected widely with 40 to 50mm on high ground. Some flooding is possible following on from rain earlier in the week."

The warning for Wednesday covers the Argyll area from Oban southwards, as well as Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, Dunbartonshire and Ayrshire, and the western part of Dumfries and Galloway.

A separate warning for rain between 1am and 6pm on Tuesday, April 9 was previously issued by the Met Office.
