The annual Ayrshire Business Awards is set to honour the best of the region's businesses.

The awards ceremony will be the culmination of Ayrshire Business Week, organised by the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce.

Aimed at promoting and supporting businesses across Ayrshire, the nominations in 16 categories will open on Monday, April 15.

Claire Baird, chief executive officer at the Chamber, said: "The Ayrshire Business Awards is established as the leading awards ceremony for Ayrshire business and is a highlight of the business calendar.

The winners will be announced on Friday, October 4 during Ayrshire Business Week which will run from Monday, September 30, to Friday, October 4.

The event will be held at Ayr Racecourse with magician and presenter Ben Hanlin as the evening’s host.

A new addition to the awards this year is the Innovation Award with the following categories also available: Apprentice of the Year; Ayrshire's Growth Business of the Year; Charity of the Year; Community Award; Community Wealth Building; Developing Ayrshire's Young Workforce; Driving Sustainability; Entrepreneur of the Year; Going Global – International Trade Business of the Year; Hospitality Business of the Year; Innovation; Start-up Business of the Year; Tourism; and Workplace Health and Wellbeing.

The awards are sponsored by businesses such as Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd, Woodward Inc, Business Gateway, James Frew, Regency FM, GlaxoSmithKline, Booth Welsh, Developing the Young Workforce Ayrshire, HALO, William Duncan Accountants, Neogen, Trump Turnberry, Stagecoach and Lighthouse IT Networks.

Sponsorship opportunities for the Innovation Award and the Start-up Business of the Year Award are still available.
