Views are being sought on plans for a new active travel route between Troon Railway Station and Loans.

The section of the route between Muirhead Primary School on Buchan Road and Loans will head to a public consultation next week.

Two phases of the project, from Troon railway station to Dundonald Road, and from Marr College to Muirhead Primary, have already been completed.

The route is part of the Ayrshire Link, which will see a network of safe and accessible paths for walkers and cyclists across the region.

Fifteen different routes are currently planned or under different stages of development, with the project being co-ordinated in collaboration with engineering consultants Sweco.

David Manson, project manager at the Ayrshire Roads Alliance, said: "After a long time in planning it’s terrific to see the new route come to life and this is a great opportunity for people to learn more as well as the benefits of active travel.

"We’re working across South and East Ayrshire Councils to develop the Ayrshire Link, a network of safe and accessible paths enabling people to enjoy the outdoors whether that’s walking, cycling or wheeling.”

A drop-in event will take place on Thursday, April 4 between 5pm and 7pm at Muirhead Activity Centre, when staff from Sweco will be available to answer questions.
