Police have been targeting speeding drivers on the A77 in South Ayrshire following complaints from the public.

Community officers and special constables have been carrying out speeding checks and engaging with motorists in Kirkoswald, Barrhill, Ballantrae, Maybole, Crosshill, and Turnberry.

Numerous drivers were warned and provided with guidance regarding their driving style, and police say that further activity will be undertaken.

Inspector Ian McColl said: “Driving in a safe and considerate manner is key to making our roads network safe and can reduce the possibility of increased risk towards residents who reside close by.

"We routinely carry out patrols in areas where we’ve received numerous complaints and will continue to work with our local partners to address community concerns.

“We would urge anyone with concerns around driving or antisocial behaviour attributed to driving to contact police on 101. Or you can contact Crimewatch on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
