Plans to extend the clubhouse building at a South Ayrshire bowling club have been given the green light.

Planning permission had been sought from South Ayrshire Council for a small extension to the building at Maidens Bowling Club, which would allow for a reconfiguration of the interior of the clubhouse.

The building's current tank room is to be transformed into a new kitchen, which will free up more space inside the club room.

The toilets will also be moved under the new plans, leading to a larger circulation area for members, while the front entrance to the building will also be relocated.

Council planning officials have now given the plans the seal of approval, saying that the development will "benefit the wider community".

Planning documents state: "The modest nature and scale of the development proposals will not attract significant crowds to that currently experienced or which would adversely impact or change the character of the area.

"In addition, the development proposals are considered to improve and ensure the continued use of an existing recreational and leisure facility, which will benefit the wider community.

"It is not considered that the proposals will adversely impact on the amenity of the surrounding locale or have a detrimental impact on its setting."
