A MAN has been found guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl in Ayr.

A jury also found Adam White guilty of sexually assaulting another girl of the same age in a separate incident elsewhere in the town with the intent of raping her.

The incidents happened almost five years apart.

White, 23, had denied both charges - but a jury found him guilty following a trial at the High Court in Kilmarnock.

The first charge related to an incident between October 1 and 23, 2017, when White was aged 16.

The charge alleged that White, who was described in court documents as a prisoner at HMP Kilmarnock, assaulted a girl who was aged 13 at the time by seizing her by the body, pushing her face into a pillow, pinning her down and removing her clothing, and that he then raped her.

The jury found White guilty by a majority verdict.

The Crown's second charge related to an incident that happened on September 3, 2022, when White was 21 years old.

This charge described how White sexually assaulted another girl, who was 13 years old at the time, and how he offered her alcohol, got into bed with her, and pressed his body against hers while she was asleep.

The charge described how after the girl woke up, White seized her by the body and performed a sex act with the intention of raping her.

The jury unanimously found White guilty of the second charge.

Following the jury's verdict, sentence on White was deferred until a later date and he was remanded in custody.
