A PENSIONER has appeared in court in connection with the death of a 70-year-old woman in Ayr.
Kenneth Davies was arrested in connection with an incident in Whitletts Road in the town on Saturday, March 2.
Mr Davies, 70, of Ayr, has been charged with assault to severe injury and with assaulting or impeding police.
He made no plea during a private hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody, and is due to appear again within the next eight days.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, police were called to an address on Whitletts Road, Ayr, following a report of a disturbance.
"On police arrival, a woman was found deceased within the house.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing."
