A HOUSING developer has handed over the latest in a series of donations to the RNLI in Troon from sales of new homes in the town.

For each house sold at Princess Gate and Queens Court, the property developer is contributing £25 to support the Troon RNLI lifeboat station's life-saving services.

This month's donation of £475 brings the organisation closer to its overall £5,650 pledge.

Jean Shields, vice-president of RNLI Troon, said: "We are extremely grateful for the ongoing support that we continue to receive from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, and we can’t thank them enough for the latest donation, which takes us closer towards the grand total they pledged.

"This money will be put to work locally to help us achieve the overall aim of our service to the local community."

The station at Troon, established in 1871, safeguards the lower Firth of Clyde with its two lifeboats - a Trent class all-weather craft and a D class inshore lifeboat.

Its crew members have received three RNLI medals for gallantry and a RNLI Chief Executive’s Commendation for a rescue in June 2022.

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: "We are delighted to mark our ongoing support of the RNLI at its Troon Lifeboat Station in this way.
