A HEROIN dealer has been jailed after being caught with 131 wraps of the drug in Ayr.
Aiden Dickie admitted possessing the class A substance with intent to supply in Princes Court on November 21, 2022.
The 20-year-old was jailed for 27 weeks when he appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court.
He had previously been remanded in custody in connection with other matters.
The procurator fiscal depute said: “At 4.25pm on November 21, 2022, police witnesses were on uniformed foot patrol and overhead a conversation with two males entering a close.
“The accused was asked if he ‘had any’.
"He was detained under the Misuse of Drugs Act and was conveyed to Ayr police office for a full search.
"In his front right pocket, police recovered 131 wraps of 83.3g in diamorphine valued at £2,800.
“At 5.05pm the accused was arrested. He was cautioned and charged and made no reply."
Defence solicitor Katherine Grant told Sheriff Shirley Foran that Dickie had previously been remanded in custody on other matters, and said she appreciated that “your ladyship's hands are tied” on sentencing options.
Sheriff Foran said: “The misuse of drugs is a serious matter.
"There is no other alternative sentence available to me, while I take account of your youth and lack of previous offending."
Dickie, of MacAdam Place, Ayr, was sentenced to 27 weeks in custody.
He was admonished on a separate complaint after failing to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court while out on bail on July 26 2023.
