A warning has been issued to residents over scam calls claiming to be from South Ayrshire Council.
Trading Standards is asking people to be aware of scam calls claiming to be from South Ayrshire Council after an Ayr resident recently received a call about planned housing repairs.
On this occasion, the resident became suspicious as they were unaware of any repairs due to be carried out at their property and promptly ended the call.
After checking, the call had been made from a mobile number and not from the council’s phone number.
A council spokesperson said: "If you receive any unexpected calls of this or a similar nature, end the call and contact us on 0300 123 0900, asking to speak to the relevant department to check that the call is genuine."
