A DRUNK driver from Ayr has been disqualified for 12 months after being caught more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
Alan Dawe, 32, of Thornyflat Street, was stopped by police at the Moorfield roundabout on the A71 near Kilmarnock on November 10 last year.
He pled guilty to one charge of driving a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol that was over the prescribed limit.
Dawe was found with 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; the legal limit in Scotland is 22 microgrammes.
He was banned from driving for 12 months, and will have to sit the extended driving test before getting back behind the wheel.
He was also fined a total of £1,275.
