Prestwick Airport has heaped praise on its staff members after handing diversion flights at short notice during Storm Isha.

Three unscheduled aircraft flew into the South Ayrshire airport on Sunday due to weather conditions at other airfields across the country as strong winds hit.

An airport spokesperson said: "On Sunday we had three short notice diverts due to the weather.

"As always our staff worked well as a team to assist passengers with safety and security a priority as always.

"It's always lovely to get positive feedback and we have just received the comments below from one of the diverted passengers."

One traveller arriving on a diverted flight was quick to praise airport staff for their help.

They said: "A huge debt of thanks to all the staff at Prestwick airport who looked after us arriving and staying around the airport for nearly 24 hours until we left.

"Staff were kind, friendly throughout."
