A section of the busy road will be closed off next week for speed management work.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be undertaking work on the A77 at Girvan, between Montgomerie Street and Bridgemill Roundabout.

A full road closure will be in place across this section of the road from 8pm to 6am each night between Monday, January 22 and Friday, January 26.

This scheme will aim to benefit around 8,000 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of pedestrian facilities and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

A signed diversion will be in operation throughout the work.

Northbound traffic will exit the A77 at Shallochpark Roundabout on to Coalpots Road and will then turn left on to the B734 to re-join the A77 at Bridgemill Roundabout.

Southbound traffic will follow this route vice versa.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Temporary traffic signals currently installed in Girvan will also remain in place throughout this period.
