The Girvan RNLI lifeboat was launched at the weekend to reports of a person in the water near Culzean.

The volunteer crew were paged at 9.16pm on Sunday, January 14, and made best speed towards the Croy shore area.

As the lifeboat crew was passing Turnberry, they were informed that the casualty had been removed from the water by police officers.

The person was then taken to hospital, with support from Ayr and Girvan Coastguard Rescue Teams.

A Girvan RNLI spokesperson said: "Our volunteer crew stood down and returned to station, with the lifeboat made ready for the next service call.

"No further details will be released."
