Pupils from Prestwick Academy won division two of the Ayrshire Badminton Association Junior Sunday league. The youngsters, aged between between 13 and 15, are pictured at the school following their triumph.
Troon Rotary Club presented a new clock to the town. The group raised funds for the clock, which was erected at the corner of Portland Street and Jubilee Road, to celebrate their 50th anniversary and donate a lasting gift to the local community. Members raised the money during their Golden Jubilee year.
Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Girvan celebrated the 80th anniversary of the international organisation. The local group, which had been in existence for 30 years, toasted the occasion by hosting a tea party for members of Girvan’s Daisy’s Tuesday Club, with a birthday cake cut.
The official Burns Clubs from Doonfoot Primary and Ayr Grammar held a joint supper at the Belleisle Country House Hotel. Ayr Grammar Burns’ club president Matthew Lindsay and Doonfoot Primary Burns’ club president Frances Muir are pictured.
Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP George Foulkes, 61, announced that he would stand down at the next election. However, he was considering a new role as an MSP. Mr Foulkes would mark 25 years as an MP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, formerly South Ayrshire, on May 3, 2004.
The winners of Coylton Primary's Scots' verse competition picked up their prizes.
